ASCE 7-22 Low-Slope Roof Components & Cladding Wind Pressure Calculator

Low-rise enclosed / partially-enclosed buildings · Fig. 30.3-2A · θ ≤ 7°

Scope: Implements ASCE 7-22 Fig. 30.3-2A for gable, hip, and monoslope roofs with slope θ ≤ 7°, mean roof height h ≤ 60 ft, and rectangular plan. Roof slopes > 7° use a different figure and are not handled here — use full ASCE 7-22 procedures or licensed software for those cases.

How to Use

Enter wind speed, building dimensions, exposure, and the effective wind area (tributary area) of the roof component you're sizing. The calculator returns net design pressures for all four roof zones per ASCE 7-22 Fig. 30.3-2A. Use whichever zone applies to your component's location.

Zone definitions (low-slope roof):

  • Zone 1′ — interior of interior. Region of the roof more than 0.6h from any edge.
  • Zone 1 — interior near edges. Inside the 0.6h edge band but outside Zone 2.
  • Zone 2 — perimeter strip of width a along each edge (excluding corners).
  • Zone 3 — corner squares, a × a, at each building corner.

End-zone width a = MIN(0.1·Lleast, 0.4·h), not less than MAX(0.04·Lleast, 3 ft).
