Effective Wind Area: The effect of Effective Wind Area on GCp
values (especially for negative pressures) is complex and only minimally represented in these assumed values.
GCp Values are SIMPLIFIED ESTIMATES: Calculating the actual External Pressure Coefficients (GCp
) from ASCE 7-22 figures (like 30.3-2 to 30.3-7) is extremely complex. It depends heavily on exact roof slope, mean roof height, effective wind area, and specific roof zone geometry (which differs for gable vs. hip roofs). This code uses simplified, representative estimated values for demonstration purposes (roughly based on a common gable roof case, slope 7-27°, h<=60ft). These assumed values are NOT accurate for all situations and MUST NOT be used for actual design.
