Engineering consulting
A licensed engineer in your corner, for exactly the question you have.
Analysis, permit strategy, inspections, verification. Scoped to the problem, quoted before any work begins, and delivered as something you can hand to a building department, a lender or a buyer.
What we consult on
Six kinds of questions.
Engineering analysis
A beam, a connection, a whole structure: does it carry the load, including wind? Calculations you can hand to a reviewer, not an opinion in an email.
Permit consulting
Which documents the county actually needs, in what order, and how to close a file that went sideways: affidavits, letters for permit closure, missed inspections.
Renovation consulting
Before you open a wall or add a story: what the existing structure can take, what has to change, and the cheapest compliant way to get there.
Structural inspections
Cracked foundations, sagging beams, storm damage, pre-purchase concerns. Remote from photos where the evidence allows; on site when it does not.
Construction verification
Confirming the work matches the approved design and the materials meet spec, with the documentation to prove it.
Design validation
An independent check of someone else's design, especially for wind exposure, before it is built or submitted.
How it works
Send the question. Get a scope and a price.
- 1
Describe it in two minutes
Photos, drawings, the inspector's comment, the lender's request. The intake sorts it and tells you what else helps.
- 2
A licensed engineer scopes it
If it is a fixed-price service you see the number immediately; otherwise a written quote, usually the same business day.
- 3
Delivered under seal
Letter, report or calculations, by secure link, addressed to whoever asked for it. The engineer stays on for the follow-up questions.
Where we are licensed
38 states plus the U.S. Virgin Islands. The intake checks your state before you spend any time.
Questions
What does a consultation cost?
Consulting is quoted per project from your files before any work begins; most quotes go out the same business day. Where a question is really a fixed-price service (an engineer letter, a plans review, energy calcs), we say so and you see that price first.
Can we talk before I commit?
Yes. Submit what you have through the intake and the engineer replies with next steps, or schedule a consultation from the footer link. Either way, nothing is committed until you accept a written scope.
Do you work with owner-builders and DIY projects?
Often. We fill the engineering seat on projects that have no general contractor or design team: turning a sketch into a buildable, permit-ready plan, sizing members, and answering the plan reviewer.
Which states?
Firm licensure in 38 states plus the U.S. Virgin Islands; in some states services are offered under the undersigned engineer's personal license in compliance with state requirements.
